South Minneapolis community near Lake Nokomis
Being close to The Mall of America, an international airport and Lake Nokomis are all perks of living in Morris Park, but not the only ones. “It's close to Highway 62, light rail transit stops, and the Mississippi River, including the Mississippi River dog park and trails leading to Fort Snelling State Park,” says Nick Archer, a 20-year Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. “It’s also the most affordable neighborhood in Nokomis East and popular with first-time homebuyers,” says Archer, who grew up in Minneapolis and now lives and works in Nokomis. This south Minneapolis neighborhood, just north of the Twin Cities Air Force Base and west of the Minneapolis VA Hospital, has a suburban feel, with established ranch-style houses and cottages and some newer two-story builds sprinkled in. Prices range from under $200,000 to more than $500,000.

Bungalows and two-story homes with Craftsman details
Single-family homes here were mostly built between the 1920s and 1960s, and rest on wide streets lined with sidewalks dotted with streetlights. Tall mature oak and pine trees tower over minimally adorned grassy lawns. Buyers will predominantly find charming bungalows, cottages and ranch-style homes between the low $200,000s to the mid-$400,000s. Some houses have finished basements or Craftsman-inspired details like stucco siding and wood paneling. Many of these homes have expanded from their original shape, giving each house a unique character. There are also some newer contemporary two-story builds in this neighborhood topping $500,000.
