Stately large homes with hefty price tags scare some away
Page is a an almost entirely residential neighborhood in Minneapolis, known in part for parks and walkability. But another identifying feature is the bounty of beautiful homes with price tags much higher than most neighboring communities. It's one of the more expensive neighborhoods within Mineapolis's Nokomis community, and the housing market is highly competitive. In fact, the inventory has been low for over a decade, says Patrick Paulson, a Realtor with EXIT Realty. The median selling price in the Twin Cities is about $365,000, compared to about $508,000 in Page. The neighborhood is predominately owner-occupied single-family homes, with a handful of townhouses and next to no renters. Most homes were built before 1970, with construction starting pre-World War II. Still, despite the higher price points, over 30% of properties sell above the list price in just a couple of weeks. Homes include well-manicured Cape Cods, multi-color Tudors with beautiful windows and stately Colonial Revivals, often made of brick or accentuated with red doors.

Mainly residential, shopping can still be found in most of the surrounding neighborhoods
Page is a commuter-friendly neighborhood with easy access to city amenities and outdoor opportunities. “When we talk about the neighborhoods in south Minneapolis, because they’re so close together you can literally walk from one to another,” Paulson says. Also nearby, Bachman’s Floral, Home & Garden isn’t just a home store, it’s a neighborhood institution.
