Doerr-Steindorf offers larger homes and commuter convenience

Located in southwest San Jose, Doerr-Steindorf is a laid-back, well-established neighborhood that combines suburban comfort with easy access to everyday destinations. Homebuyers often choose the area for its comparatively larger homes, classic architecture and highly rated schools. Neighborhood parks, convenient commuter routes and access to Downtown Campbell further add to the appeal, making Doerr-Steindorf a popular choice for everyone from first-time buyers and families to those seeking more room to grow.

Home styles range from spacious 1960s homes to 2000s condo complexes

The neighborhood mainly offers detached homes from the early 1950s to the 1960s. Single-family homes usually come in contemporary or ranch-style designs, although some showcase the midcentury modern style of renowned Californian architect Joseph Eichler. The neighborhood also has many condo and townhouse communities from the late 1970s and early 2000s. These complexes are usually HOA-managed, meaning homeowners may pay monthly fees to cover shared amenities, private parking, general maintenance and some utilities.

Doerr-Steindorf is known for giving homeowners a lot of bang for their buck. "Homes here are bigger than many areas throughout the Bay Area," says Spencer Hsu, Realtor with EXP Realty. "The community attracts a range of professionals from those buying their first home to others looking for much larger properties." Single-family homes usually start around $1.2 million and cost up to $3.2 million, while condos and townhouses can range anywhere from the upper $500,000s to $1.6 million. Properties typically sell after a month on the market, notably faster than the national average of 56 days.
