Canyon Lakes is 23 miles north of Fremont, 28 miles east of Oakland, 35 miles east of San Francisco and 38 miles north of San Jose. Many of these cities can be accessed by driving along Interstate-680, which is a major highway that stretches from Fairfield at the north end to San Jose at the south.
