My husband and I were in the real estate market to purchase a house in Torrance, CA this spring, 2015. The market was very competitive and it was very difficult to successfully buy a home. I found Antoinette to be excellent in helping us to find and successfully bid on and purchase a house. We had moved from Huntsville, AL, where the market is not competitive at all, so this market was new for us. Our initial bid, that was over the asking price, was rejected. Antoinette is very flexible and we changed our plan so that we looked at new houses on the market immediately. Thanks to Antoinette, we successfully bought a home in the SoCal market. Antoinette was excellent at explaining the home buying process and her mortgage broker, Keith Watamanuk, was also very helpful. Antoinette's negotiation skills are excellent. When we learned that there were problems with the roof, she was able to get us a credit towards the repair of the roof. Fortunately, with Antoinette's help, were were able to buy a home in this difficult market. Antoinette was the key person in this process each step of the way, and there were many parts to the process! Like many others, I was negatively affected when the economy declined in 2008 and was close to having my property foreclosed upon in 2012. After a referral from a friend, I began working with Antoinette Hopper. She swooped in just in the nick-of-time and helped me negotiate a short-sale instead of a foreclosure which would have had a much more negative impact on my credit standing. She then went above and beyond to help my family secure a rental property right after the short-sale. Understandably, potential landlords could have been leery to rent to us because of the short-sale but with Antoinette's help we were able to locate a really desirable rental property and beat out other applicants to secure the rental for ourselves. Antoinette was very professional and responsive during both processes. She put as much effort into working on the short-sale and helping us secure a rental property as I'm sure she would with helping buyers and sellers with their properties. My experience with Antoinette was nothing short of fantastic. Going above and beyond is an understatement for what she did for me to get the house sold. I am a legal professional for over 30 years, so I am accustomed to, and I demand, professionalism in return, particularly when it comes to money and business dealings. I truly cannot say enough about Ms. Hopper, and I'm very happy to have been given this opportunity. I met Ms. Hopper in late 2006. She is one of the most professional individuals I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. She really stood by our side during such a difficult transition. My ex and I were going through our divorce and had to sell our home. We encountered major issues with our city, the hired contractors, and then along came the first time buyers who wanted everything. The deal just could not have gotten worse. In addition to the sale of our home, I buried my father the prior year, and my brother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer only months prior to me filing for divorce. I became my brother's primary caregiver and took leave from work with virtually no funds to live on. During this difficult time, Ms. Hopper made herself available by telephonically attending meetings with us and the city, making separate phone calls to the city and contractors to get things clarified and finalized, she stuck by our side, and never once did she ever take one side over the other. She never complained about the many difficult issues. Ms. Hopper remained patient, passionate about her work, and professional to the end. She earned every dime of her commission. She was always prompt, carefully listened to and remembered concerns, always available (or immediately returned phone calls), and was always there to do what she could and to provide whatever information she could to assist in closing the sale. Writing this review is making me a bit emotional due to all the triumphs and hills we had to climb. When the buyers came about, they too brought about tough issues, demanding things of us that were simply uncalled for. However because of our contractual obligations to the buyers, and the tough divorce issues at hand, we had no other choice but to proceed. Ms. Hopper took as much pressure off of us that she could by working even closer with the buyers' agent to negotiate matters, and we were eventually able to close, disburse funds, and walk away. Several years after the sale of our family home, in 2012 I needed assistance with quickly getting rid of an inhabitable property owned by my 92 year old Godfather. Ms. Hopper introduced me to an investor who was very fair and reasonable, and I was able to quickly dispose of the home with very little money out of pocket in very little time. I don't usual take the time to give reviews, because quite frankly I don't feel there many people out there who are worth my time. But...if you're looking for a professional who knows real estate, who has great business connections, who is prompt, reliable, honest, patient, and well versed in the field, Ms. Hopper is truly the best choice. The agents and staff at South Bay Brokers were also just as patient and professional. Ms. Hopper was a God send, and is worth her weight in gold and then some. I appreciate everything about her. In closing, I've used 2 agents in the past, dumped both of them, and went on my own until I found properties that I wanted to purchase. I would then call someone I knew to close the deal. The prior 2 agents were always late, they lied, never returned phone calls, never listened to my concerns, and wanted to do things their way just to get to the end result...their commission. Ms. Hopper is a totally different agent, as her first and foremost objective is to ensure her clients have a smooth experience with their transaction.
