Welcome to the oldest Montessori school in Austin, Texas. Founded in 1967, Austin Montessori School operates three separate campuses, and their Sunset Trail school is located in the Westgate neighborhood. It enrolls 385 students from prekindergarten through ninth grade and offers an eight-week summer program as well.
More than half of the educators were trained by the Association Montessori Internationale, which accredits Montessori schools. Austin Montessori is also accredited by the Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools and is a member in good standing of the National Association of Independent Schools and the Enrollment Management Association.
The school’s goal is to educate the entire child while instilling values like respect, independence and self-discipline. To do this, the facility uses multiple teaching approaches, respects the child’s natural curiosity, and provides a supportive environment where the child’s personal interests and skills can be explored and built on. It operates primarily as a standard nine-and-a-half month school although there are several year-round programs too.
To enroll in the school, Austin Montessori asks that an inquiry form be filled out online. After an observation period has been completed, an application for admission can be completed on the school’s website. Tuition for the private school ranges from $13,500 for half-day programs to $23,000 for an all-day all-year program.
