Huntington-Surrey School, founded in 1973, is a private high school located just northwest of the University of Texas campus. The school motto, "College Prep With Heart,” is exemplified by the small class sizes and personalized instruction. Only a few dozen students attend Huntington-Surrey in any given year. Students learn liberal arts in an environment based on freedom, rigor and community, according to the school website. Individual attention and personalized instruction are the norm at Huntington-Surrey; in fact, the literature program operates on a one-on-one model based on the British tutorial method. The campus is small, and the school doesn’t have an athletic program. However, the school does host social events like a Halloween costume contest. Students are also encouraged to participate in clubs, field trips and community volunteer activities. For a student who thrives on attention, Huntington-Surrey offers a highly individualized prep school education.

The most individualized and flexible program I've seen. Truly caring staff and owners. Huntington- Surrey is a blessing to my entire family.

My son has gone here for 4 years. Public school did not work for him. Small class sizes, ability to work with twice exceptional kids and anti-bullying (acceptance no matter what race, sexual orientation, gender, etc were the primary factors in our decision. No regrets.

Huntington-Surrey has been an amazing school for our son. It a place where kids can thrive on learning, not just survive high school. The college format prepares them for what is ahead, and teachers...amazing, all have either Masters or PHD and drive their students to achieve. It doesn't have athlet...

Former student graduated as "the platinum kid" as they called me... I ended up having to do a half year as a junior due to personal reasons so I technically went to HSBC for 5 years... so that's what they dubbed me... This school felt like my second home... I actually enjoyed going to svhool, doing...

I graduated from Huntington-Surrey in 1999. It was my third high school. Before enrolling, I was on a path to becoming a drop out. I loved learning, but hated school. Huntington-Surrey made me into a lifelong learner. I graduated from St. Edward's with Honors, received an MFA from Naropa University...
