In 2019, the David Starr Jordan Middle School was renamed the Dolores Huerta Middle School in honor of civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, who co-founded the National Farmworkers Association with Cesar Chavez. The Dolores Huerta Middle School is a public elementary school in the Burbank Unified School District and is located at 420 South Mariposa Street. The student population totals 1,056 students and the school serves sixth through eighth grades. The school’s mission is to create a safe and challenging academic environment while also honoring the social and emotional needs of each student. The faculty genuinely cares about the education and safety of the students. My child's experience was academically enriching as well as encouraging. The band and choir programs are a great introduction and training ground before the students advance into Burbank's nationally acclaimed Arts programs in both high schools.

What a disappointment this school turned out to be. The ratings for this school have dropped significantly since the new administration took over. If you deal with them you'd understand. Bad school. Had the worst years of my life here. While some are good, most teachers are bleh or flat out bad and assign useless work. Bullying happens constantly, along with vaping in the bathroom and fights at lunch. The fire alarm got pulled a lot for no reason, just because kids thought they were...
