Dahlia Heights Elementary provides education for kindergarten to sixth grade children living in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles. Represented by the school’s mascot, the dove symbolizes caring for others with “dove love” through acts of kindness, art therapies and compassion. Teachers support Dahlia Doves with studies in the 5-Cs of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication and community.
The specialized programs at Dahlia Heights allow students to excel with unique learning experiences and opportunities for advancement. The gifted and talented program focuses on critical thinking, arts and communication skills. Students between fourth and sixth grade can join robotics activities. Plus, the kid’s zone supplies homework assistance for studies and fun websites for children’s entertainment. Parents have access to resources and options for participating in school events too.
At Dahlia Heights Elementary, extracurricular school activities focus on recycling education, food and clothing drives, gatherings at the school library and school functions. During breaks, children can play basketball, kickball or handball. After school and summer camp activities encourage student development, as well, with E-3 concepts based on enrichment educational experiences.
Dahlia Heights Elementary was rebuilt after the original school was demolished during the late 1960s. The first school constructed during the early 20th century was named Eagle Rock’s East School because of its relation to Central School. The West School was also built during the early 20th century to accommodate the city’s growing population.

Our son was in Dahlia Heights during COVID, for 1st grade. During that time, the teachers collaborated to make it a full and educational experience. They had live arts -- theater, music, dance, drawing. They traveled to different countries. They found creative ways to give one-on-one time with students. The teachers all showed love for their work. We're sad we had to leave the school (we moved!) because I'd love to see what live teaching is like there. This school has a big, big heart.
