Delevan Drive Elementary is “committed to socio-emotional and academic success of every student”, and demonstrates those values with a variety of interests in addition to education. Every year, students celebrate the 100th day of school and the birthday of Dr. Suess. Children are given opportunities to participate in the Reflections arts program. And, parents can share in Tasty Tuesdays and Paint Night activities online.
Home of Koala Bob, the school’s mascot is illustrated around campus demonstrating safety, showcasing events, and in the Koala Korner newsletter. Parents can find Wacky Wednesday themes, current news, links and updates in the newsletter too. Additionally, PTA events encourage community participation by hosting school dances, group outings, movie nights and more.
The school’s curriculum is very hands-on and encourages students to collaborate on studies and projects. Outdoor activities involve time in the edible garden, basketball, softball, jungle gyms and colorful walls to play handball. Located in a quiet residential zone, the brightly painted school and its historic weathervane are also a part of how this school creatively encourages growth and development.
