Piru Elementary is the smallest elementary school in the Fillmore Unified School District, with just 277 students. The school, built in 1955, is located in the unincorporated area of Piru about seven miles from Fillmore. The neighborhood school serves students in transitional kindergarten through the fifth grade and has a student-to-teacher ratio of 23-to-1. The school is set on seven acres with ample green space, and Piru Condors are greeted with a rustic sign and bell at the school’s entrance. The school’s curriculum follows California state framework and is committed to helping students become confident, independent thinkers. Piru Elementary students have access to the latest technology in classrooms through a grant from Apple. Students through the second grade receive a district-provided tablet and students in third grade and up are given a district-provided laptop to use during the year. The school offers ACES After School Enrichment and Safety program Monday through Friday, free to Fillmore Unified elementary students. The program’s curriculum is based on integrated units of study, focused on STEAM, science, technology, engineering, art and math.

I am a parent of a kindergartner at piru school this year 2011. I am very concerned about the administration here. This year the principal DID NOT even read the school budget! So our kids lost out on around 70 thousand dollars, which should have been spent on helping our kids who are not up to grade...
