Academics are excellent. However, SPA is a very unwelcoming environment for neurodivergent students. If you want to have your accommodations ignored, SPA is the place to be.

As a middle school student, I can't say for sure about the high school but cliques are very obvious in my grade. There's a fairly large workload, but academics and athletics are great. There isn't much diversity in teachers, but among the students, it's fine (of course the majority is rich white kids). The administration isn't very good at handling "bullying" issues; I won't go into detail here but an issue I was involved with won't be getting resolved. Students aren't typically punished other than an email to parents or whatever. There is a lot of pressure to get good grades, but mainly among minority students or students with obvious helicopter parents. The workload is manageable with sports, but I've lost a ton of sleep over homework. There's also a lot of pressure from teachers for students to participate; the general expectation is to participate frequently, but I find myself not wanting to in classes that I don't enjoy or classes with meaner kids.

As a student, my experience at SPA has been outstanding. The quality of academics there are very high and it is a safe and fun community. There is also a wide range of after school programs that are all incredible.
