Residents can easily access the frequent events in Downtown Spokane, such as the annual Summer Carnival at Riverfront Park, which culminates in Fourth of July fireworks and a performance by the Spokane Symphony. The Spokane County Fair Grounds and Expo Center hosts various events throughout the year, from the classic Spokane County Interstate Fair to dog shows. Students may attend several public alternative schools in the area, such as Bryant Center, receiving a B-minus, which serves grades pre-K through twelfth grade. Spokane Community College, receiving a B-minus, is located within the Chief Garry Park community for students wishing to continue their education or train in a specialty career.Walking paths and water landings
The community is anchored by Chief Garry Park, featuring a splash pad, athletic fields and a large lawn with shaded areas. Locals walk or jog along the Community College River Walk Trail or head across the river to bike along the Centennial Trail, which stretches to the Idaho border. The area of the Spokane River bordering the region is between two damns. “This makes the river barely fluctuate,” says Cook. “And you don’t have to worry about flooding.” The Gonzaga University rowing team will use the area for practices, and the nearby municipal airfield will use it for water landings.Transit center on college campus
The region is bordered by Route 290 and near I-90. Chief Garry Park is 10 miles from the Spokane International Airport and next door to Parkwater Aviation, a pilot training center. “It’s still pretty quiet because there are not many houses next to it,” says Cook. Bus stops line major roadways and there is a transit center on the Spokane Community College campus.
