A little over 10 miles from downtown Augusta, Belair offers homebuyers a convenient neighborhood with everything to do in their backyard.

“I would say convenience is its selling point,” says Karen Parker, a Realtor with RE/MAX Reinvented. “You can get to downtown Augusta quickly and to the suburbs on the western part of town quickly too.”

Two major roadways surround the neighborhood; Interstate 20 sets the northern border, while Interstate 520 is the eastern border. Interstate 20 runs east to west from Florence, S.C. to San Antonio, Texas, and Interstate 520 is an auxiliary highway that encircles most of Augusta, Ga., all the to North Augusta, S.C.

There are a variety of home styles in the area ranging from older brick ranch-style homes to the newer constructed two-story box home. The market moves faster on new construction because there are usually incentives involved, compared to the older homes that come on the market. The prices range from $160,000s to $450,000s in Belair.

Children in Belair are districted to attend the Richmond County Schools. Elementary school children attend Sue Reynolds Elementary School and Langford Middle School. Richmond County Schools also offer magnet programs for children in high school to focus on the area of study they are interested in. Another public education option for parents in the area is to send their children to Belair K-8, a STEM school for elementary through middle school students.

When you think Augusta, Ga., you think golf, and while you are just 7.6 miles away from Augusta National, home of the Masters every April, you are never too far from your next 18 holes. If you dream of playing in the Masters one day or want to hone your skills before your next round, head to Wedges and Woods. The driving range in the neighborhood offers lessons, golf club repair and custom fittings. Other Saturday outings can be spent bouncing around at DEFY Augusta. The trampoline park hosts birthday parties, but patrons can hop in for a fun day.

Spend the afternoon with the family at MM Scott Park, one of the neighborhood’s green spaces. The park has a walking trail and features a playground with shaded benches where parents can keep a watchful eye on their children. The park also has a paved basketball court and a pair of tennis courts. For soccer fans, Belair has you covered with the Augusta Soccer Park. The fields are home to Augusta Arsenal Soccer Club, a youth soccer club. The program has introductory lessons and teams for 5-7-year-olds and more competitive leagues for 7-18-year-old boys and girls.

Two retail locations at the neighborhood’s eastern border include the Augusta Mall and Augusta West Plaza. The mall features all your typical mall favorites. Augusta West Plaza is a strip mall with restaurants mixed in with big box stores.

Again, convenience comes into play when discussing the Belair restaurant scene. You can swing by local places like RNR Grill N Bar at the neighborhood’s south end and try one of their specially cut steaks off the open flame grill. There is also a Top Crab location on the east end of the neighborhood and the Augusta location of the restaurant that is also in Savannah, Ga.

With quick access to downtown Augusta and the suburbs west of the area, Belair is a middle ground for homebuyers considering putting roots down in the area.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
