A dense and exciting Los Angeles neighborhood
View Park is west of downtown Los Angeles and was developed between 1923 and 1970 as a residential neighborhood. This neighborhood is popular for its houses, with Spanish and Mediterranean Revival Style homes and mansions sporting large decks with scenic views of the Los Angeles skyline. Locals are only a quick drive away from schools and dining options, another big draw to the area. For relaxation, residents are close to a variety of LA county parks as well as a short drive from famous attractions like Sofi Stadium and the Santa Monica Pier. What's more, downtown LA is reachable within a 10-mile drive for both work and play.

Older California Spanish and Mediterranean-style homes
View Park contains a collection of houses in the Spanish Colonial Revival and Mediterranean Revival styles, most of which remain today from the early 1900s. Prices here range from $650,000 to over $1.5 million for two- to three-bedroom homes. The higher end is reserved for remodels with upgrades like smart home features and many with backyard pools, multicar garages and expansive decks. "Many homes have amazing dead-on city views, and you can see the snowcapped mountains in the winter," says Erica Lockhart, an area resident and Los Angeles Magazine Real Estate All-Star with Compass for over 8 years.

LA excitement in every direction
For recreation in View Parks, many are just a short drive away. The nearby Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area has events throughout the year, like the Juneteenth event and the MLK Day event for cleaning up the park “and a day of service in honor of Doctor King,” says Shawn McAndory, the superintendent of the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area for over 16 years. The cultural lures of Inglewood are also in close reach, including SoFi Stadium's massive venue for football games and concerts. To the north, locals are also only a 7-mile drive from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. And, of course, no LA neighborhood is complete without access to the beach, which is an easy feat with the Santa Monica Pier 11 miles to the west.

Monteith Park and Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area
Residents enjoy relaxing and socializing at Monteith Park, a triangular-shaped grassy area surrounded by houses. Despite its small size, the park is a popular gathering space for neighbors, especially for events like the annual Easter Egg Hunt and jazz concerts in the summer. Arrive early for those popular nights, or you might have to squeeze in. To the west, the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area has a community center, a fishing lake and over 7 miles of trails with outlooks “that offer some of the best views of the city,” McAndory says. “From one of the southern points, you can see as far as Long Beach.”

Even with all the hustle and bustle all around, the streets are quiet unless residents try to head downtown.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
