Outdoor recreation creates year-round activities for residents and visitors

Lake Hiawatha, one of many bodies of water in the lake-dotted Twin Cities area, offers a year-round destination's highlights. Stop by the beach in the summer, or head to the playground and wading pool. The park becomes a popular ice skating area in the winter and remains a great place to bicycle year-round. “Minnehaha Creek meanders along the southern border,” says Nick Archer, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. “It is also close to Lake Nokomis, so its location near the best nature has to offer makes it popular with those who appreciate the outdoors.” Be sure to experience the U.S. Pond Hockey Tournament on nearby Lake Nokomis, where teams gather for friendly competition. While a few star players may have college or professional credentials, most are amateurs looking forward to winning the golden shovel and celebrating with friends in the beer tent.

Eating and drinking can be an adventure in this Minneapolis community

Ericsson eateries include Bull’s Horn Food and Drink, a local bar known for years as the Sunrise Inn. It’s a great spot to enjoy a few drinks or enjoy a bucket of fried chicken. You can’t miss it on East 46th Street thanks to the building-wide mural of the lake. At Venn Brewing, locals can gather around a pint of craft beer or a latte in a dog-friendly environment right by the Metro Blue Line light rail station. While the brewery doesn’t offer any food, you can often find a food truck parked out front.

Great neighborhood to live no matter where you are in life. I love being able to walk to lakes (Hiwatha and Nokomis), a creek, coffee shops, bakeries, bars, the light rail, and biking opens even more possibilities. It's still somewhat affordable for being such a gem.
