I'm currently at the school and I think that the parents, teachers, and administrators are heavily involved and concerned about the students well being!

parents choose to be as involved as they want most of the children are very independent and secure in their academics

Athletics is not big at New Roots. Most students are athletic outside of school. However with what sports teams we do have (soccer, volleyball, basketball) the teachers support the students and provide them with what they need to compete. The school is in the downtown area and doesn't have access to on campus fields or facilities. Teachers take it into their own hands to find equipment and a space for their teams to practice.

Most teachers are super great. The administration is super manipulative but super supportive of students. I went for years and wouldn't recommend it to others...but I never left.

I would rate my experience with a zero. This school doesn't prepare students for college. They focus entirely on environmental issues instead of academic ones. Not to mention they put students in unnecessary classes which isn't required by the state, as well as creating toxic situations for the stud...

I would rate this school 1 out of 5 mostly due to weak administration and poor academic performance. Ithaca has very high achieving, safe and well run schools. I can't understand why parents and students pick a school like this.
