Eugene Field Elementary in Hastings Ranch sits on the divide between Upper and Lower Hastings. It is an award-winning school that offers several programs for children of all ages, including quality pre-K and after-school programs like the City of Pasadena Adventure Program.
Eugene Field offers many unique programs. As a sister school to an elementary school in Beijing, parents can opt for a 90/10 bilingual Mandarin-English program for grades K-5 and after-school Mandarin enrichment programs. Through the farm-to-school program, children learn how to grow produce and make healthier choices using the school's 12,000 square foot vegetable garden and 30-tree fruit orchard.
The Pasadena Unified School District has a school choice program that zones residents to neighborhood schools. Along with Don Benito Fundamental, Eugene Field is a neighborhood school for Hastings Ranch residents and is only available by lottery for students outside its boundaries. The parent community at Eugene Field is extremely involved with a 400-member PTA and an annual fund to support technology initiatives, library services and other crucial programs for children's education.
