Lake Aumond
Suburban Neighborhood in Augusta, Georgia
Richmond County 30909
Multiple housing styles in a convenient location
Maybe the most unique thing about the neighborhood is the selection of architectural styles and different home prices. Along winding streets lined with plush old-growth trees, home styles range from brick-front ranch-style bungalows to new construction Craftsman-styles and spacious millennium mansions. Because of the range in styles and square footage, the price range is extensive and spans from $131,000 to $933,000. “The market is unique because of the diversity of selection. On one street, you can find 1950s brick ranch styles, and then across the road, you can find 3-to-4-thousand-square-foot homes selling for nearly a million dollars,” Trulock says.Staying active in West Augusta
Living in Lake Aumond sounds like days will be spent on the water. Unfortunately, that is not the case, but the water does provide some excellent views for a handful of houses and some on-shore fishing for local anglers. Augusta’s first YMCA, the Wilson Family YMCA, can join at an additional cost. The facility features summer and after-school programs for kids, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a fitness center, and much more. Locals also enjoy Tanglewood Park, a pocket park with a playground, swing set, jungle gym, and benches for parents to supervise their kids. For golfers, Lake Aumond is conveniently located by two public golf courses, the Forest Hills Golf Course and the Augusta Municipal Golf Course. The Richmond County School System
Children will attend the Richmond County School System, which scores a C on Niche and has a 16-to-1 student-teacher ratio. Students will attend either Copeland or Forest Hills Lake Elementary, Langford Middle, and the Academy of Richmond County for high school, earning C-minus, B-minus, C-minus, and C grades, respectively, on Niche. The Academy of Richmond County offers dual enrollment on campus through Georgia Military College and off-campus classes at Augusta University. The Masters or a show downtown
Each year, the golf world and most of America turns its attention to Augusta for the Masters the first week of April annually. It is held at the Augusta National Golf Course, less than 4 miles from the neighborhood. Just a little over 5 miles from Lake Aumond, residents can head downtown and visit a pair of Augusta venues – the Miller Theater and James Brown Arena – that attract national touring acts and shows throughout the year. All aboard Augusta Transit and major interstates
Lake Aumond is conveniently located on the No. 1 Blue Line – Walton Way and the No. 7 Pink Line – Augusta Mall bus routes for those needing public transit. Riders can pick up the Pink Line at the Augusta Mall or Walmart, while they can find the Blue Line at Walton Way and Baker Avenue. The neighborhood also gives commuters easy access to Interstate 520, an auxiliary highway that encircles Augusta and North Augusta, and it is just south of Interstate 20, which runs east to west from South Carolina to Texas.
Let’s go to the Augusta Mall
Lake Aumond is less than 3 miles from the Augusta Mall, a two-level shopping facility that is one of the largest malls in Georgia and the largest in the Augusta metropolitan area. Residents can shop the latest fashion trends at JCPenney, Dillard’s, and Macy’s, all the new gadgets at Apple, or have a meal at one of the many restaurants, including The Chop House. The neighborhood is south of the Augusta Exchange, a huge shopping center along Interstate 20 and The Bobby Jones Expressway. Locals can find Target, among other big box stores, and the Regal Augusta Exchange. A little further in the car along the Walton Way Extension, residents can pick up weekly groceries from Sprouts at the Crane Creek Shopping Center. A little closer to home, Raes Coastal Café is a local bar serving Caribbean cuisine.
