Established neighborhood in the heart of Augusta
Across the street from Augusta National Golf Course and backing up to the Savannah River, National Hills is an established neighborhood in the western part of Augusta. A collection of brick ranch styles and split levels shaded by old-growth oak trees make up the neighborhood’s home inventory, but its proximity to all Augusta has to offer is probably National Hills' calling card. Residents who call it home are less than 5 miles from multiple shopping centers, chain restaurants, hiking trails, and parks, and if that is not enough, it is only 6 miles to the bustling downtown Augusta. “It is not uncommon for people to put down roots in National Hills,” says Ross Trulock, a Realtor with Blanchard & Calhoun and a lifelong Augusta resident. “Some people have spent more than 30 years in their homes, which speaks to the neighborhood. While that is not always the case, the neighborhood is in a prime location in the heart of the city.”

Traditional homes underneath tall oak trees
Off the busyness of Washington Road, National Hills offers wide neighborhood streets lined with tall, old-growth oak trees. With most of the inventory built between the 1950s and the 1970s, most home styles are either brick ranch styles or brick split levels. While the houses are packed closely together, buyers get some yard space on their narrow, compact lots. Prices in National Hills range from $165,000 to $393,000, depending on size and condition. “National Hills is in a great location and homes are reasonable priced, but inventory remains low," says George Vozniak, a Realtor with Vandermorgan Realty.

Learning in the Richmond County School System
School-age residents are districted for the Richmond County School System, which grades a C on Niche. The district offers specialty and magnet schools for middle and high school students to focus their education on their career aspirations. Students begin their journey by attending the nearby Garrett Elementary before advancing to Tutt Middle and Westside High. The schools rank as a C, C-minus, and C-plus on Niche, respectively. Westside has been honored for nine straight years by the Georgia Department of Education as an AP Honor School. Augusta is home to multiple private schools that range from curriculum to faith-based options.
Trails, ball fields and nearby golf options
Residents can explore the Augusta Canal Trail practically a stone's throw away. Spanning nearly 8 miles along the Savannah River, the trail loop weaves and twists through historic and natural settings right to the heart of downtown Augusta. Eisenhower Park also backs up to the canal for a more traditional park within the neighborhood's confines. With multiple rec baseball fields, the park is a hot spot for all of Augusta, while it also features a playground, picnic pavilion and a rec center. A benefit of living in National Hills is joining the National Hills Pool, one of the city's oldest neighborhood pools. While it is an additional cost, the pool offers a swim team for ages 5-18, has lifeguards on duty and is available to rent out for birthday parties for its members. With arguably the most famous golf course in the country, Augusta National, right across Washington Road, National Hills residents are within 5 miles of two other elite courses in the city, including Forest Hill Golf Course and the Augusta Country Club.

Proximity to all amenities
National Hills is practically surrounded by shopping centers on every side of the neighborhood. On the neighborhood's eastern side is Washington Road. The National Hills Shopping Center and National Plaza feature multiple chain grocery stores, including Publix, Kroger, The Fresh Market, and other popular chain restaurants like Bonefish Grill and World of Beer. The western portion of National Hill is supported by the Village at Riverwatch Retail Center, which is home to Augusta’s Costco and Bass Pro Shop. Locals can catch a flick at the Riverwatch Cinemas or practice their swing at TopGolf for more entertainment. "It is easy to find something to do with places on Washington Road and the Riverwatch Shopping Center," Vozniak says.

Annual events and downtown Augusta
Augusta’s claim to fame is the Masters golf tournament, which is held the first whole week of April annually at the Augusta National Golf Course. While the Masters gets most of the press, the city does host an Ironman Triathlon each fall, with racers competing in the Savannah River and biking and running through parts of downtown Augusta. Downtown Augusta is just over 5 miles away and provides more entertainment from established restaurants like Luigi’s, which opened in 1949, the Augusta Museum of History and the James Brown Arena.
Augusta Public Transit
The city operates the Augusta Public Transit, a bus line for city residents. National Hills is conveniently located along the No. 5 Green Line – Washington Road and can be picked up at the National Hills Plaza.
