Adams Hill neighbors iconic Forest Lawn Cemetery

Adams Hill brings big-name celebrities together — just not in the way you might expect. Nestled in the southern part of Glendale in Los Angeles County, the neighborhood borders one of the most famous cemeteries in the world, Forest Lawn, where dozens of entertainment legends have been laid to rest. Visitors come from all over to explore the exquisitely manicured grounds, which offer expansive views of Los Angeles and include a well-known museum, renowned statuary and a structure containing two of the largest religious paintings in the Western hemisphere.

Historic homes in varied styles

The hilly roads around Forest Lawn include eye-catching homes with features such as gorgeous and colorful terraced gardens and expansive balconies. Typical of Southern California, many homes and apartment buildings feature Mediterranean-style designs with tiled roofs. The neighborhood is also dotted with Craftsman-style houses, Mission Revival structures and cozy bungalows with low-pitched roofs and wide porches. The neighborhood’s tree-lined streets feature tall juniper and palm trees that enhance curb appeal. The Glendale Historic Historical Society organizes walking tours of the area’s historic homes.

For local treats closer to home, Art’s Bakery and Cafe and Kafn Coffee are some of the most popular spots in the neighborhood. You can find everyday essentials at nearby chains and big box retailers, but small restaurants and local cafés add to the neighborhood’s appeal; South Glendale Avenue is lined with diverse restaurants that can satisfy any craving.
