Houses cost a little more than in surrounding areas

The Kenny neighborhood is a Southwest Minneapolis bouquet of lakeside views, locally owned businesses and homes that average in price slightly higher than in surrounding areas. The reasons for those higher prices can be found by spending time in the community, soaking up the family-like atmosphere. “I would say that Kenny is a happening family neighborhood that both young people and older people love because of its diversity, proximity to downtown, the airport and other attractions,” says Bill Bomberg, real estate agent at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. “It’s a great safe neighborhood that’s the type of place where neighbors come together and help each other out.” Kenny Park is at the center of the neighborhood, both literally and figuratively.

Open green space takes the guesswork out of outdoor fun

At the focal point of the Kenny neighborhood, Kenny Park – tucked between two schools – provides endless hours of recreation and entertainment for families, children and pets. The park has a playground, wading pool, tennis courts and even a little free library for bookworms on the go. For the athletes and wannabe athletes, there’s a baseball field, basketball and pickleball courts. Winter brings an ice rink for ice skating and recreational hockey. Just south of Kenny Park is Grass Lake. That park may not be home to major festivals or large public parks, but it more than makes up for it with its serene feel and residential views. Stunning lakes and lakeside amenities surround Southwest Minneapolis residents. While Grass Lake is a serene spot, residents aren’t far from Lake Harriet. Paved bicycle trails surround the lake and offer excellent views.
