Sequoyah high school was the best decision I have made for my high school career. It helped me build my readiness for the real world, my talking skills, my writing skills, and other academic worries I had. I made life long friends from this school, and the rest feels like a community that I will always search for. If there was something I would change, I would implement a good food service.

Being that is only 5-6 years in the making, Sequoyah High School is having a lot of growing pains as it finds its way. The school needs more organization and more academic rigor while still holding on to its progressive roots. The Humanities and Art Departments are excellent and have great teachers and interesting classes. The same cannot be said of the math and science departments.

Sequoyah school has been a unique experience. I must say I do love the community and teachers at this school yet I have constantly struggled with the administration. In my and many others experiences there is a complete lack of respect and care for the students from the administration. There have been countless times that very important and pressing issues have been brought up to the administration and the administration just brushes it under the rug and tries to shut everybody up. There is often more effort put into helping perpetrators then to helping victims. From cases like racism to SA to homophobia and many other issues. Overall this school needs to do some deep thinking and reflecting and maybe reading the habits of mind.. The ideas and moral beliefs that they teach to us students they themselves do not follow. The school advertises as a school where deep conversations can be held but the second something gets political or people begin to disagree the students are made shut up.

Sequoyah High School emphasizes academic rigor and personal well-being, and students leave for college excited to learn more rather than worn down by a traditional, pressure cooker experience. This is what high school should be—a place where students talk about issues and ideas, and stellar faculty...

Sequoyah has been such in incredible place for both of our sons. The teacher support and learning through action has been so transformative. Both my boys have been engaged and passionate about their own learning.

Coming from a homeschooling background, I wondered if my daughter could find a space where her curiosity, independence, and love for learning would thrive. Sequoyah has been that space and more. The school’s thoughtful, hands-on approach and inclusive community have empowered her to truly advocate f...
