Established in 1948, Thomas Jefferson Elementary is a public school in the Burbank Unified School District. Home of the Eagles, the school is located at 1900 N Sixth Street in Burbank. In addition to a core curriculum of math, science, English and reading, Thomas Jefferson Elementary sponsors an English Learner Program for students who speak English as a second language. Teachers work with students in small groups to build vocabulary, comprehension and fluency skills.
Another signature program of the school is an excursion to the Los Angeles County Outdoor Science School, where students and teachers spend five days in nature learning about plants, animals, ecology, geology and astronomy. Students also participate in nature hikes and spend time journaling, writing letters to home or socializing with their peers.
Thomas Jefferson Elementary offers several other after-school programs, including TJ Club, a before- and after-school child care service. Other featured programs include the Boys and Girls Club and the E3 Enrichment Program, which features a curriculum that teaches students how to become scientists, geographers, artists and musicians.

I pulled my daughter out after 2 years at this school because the school was only concerned with fundraising. Teaching children was considered the sole responsibility of the parents. I've really been impressed with this school. There is a very active PTA and Fundraising Committee that provides so many extra services above and beyond what the regular state/federal funding covers. The school communicates very well. The enrichment is amazing. STEAM lab, music class for all grades.
