Location is one of the appeals for North Ridgeville. "It's centrally located and next to all the main highways," says Realtor Dawn Balog of Russell Real Estate Services, who has been selling homes for over 15 years. Balog also notes, "North Ridgeville is a very safe community that's recently added new Cleveland Clinic medical centers, so you no longer have to drive to Cleveland for your healthcare needs. Thoroughfare access is a huge draw to this suburb, located 20 miles southeast of Cleveland, but that's not all. Access to green spaces, global cuisine and modern housing developments are also causing an influx of interested homebuyers. "North Ridgeville is a hot spot," Balog says. "When a house goes on the market here, it sells within days." That's because North Ridgeville is northern Ohio's fastest-growing city, and it's recently been cited as a leader in new home construction. "There's a big boom of people moving in," says Balog. "They know it's a good bang for your buck. The taxes for Lorain County are lower than Cuyahoga County, so you can get a larger home for less, including tons of new build options." Those new builds can run from anywhere from the mid-$400,000s all the way up to around $1 million. "A lot of the developments also have HOAs with pools and community centers," adds Balog. These amenities are another draw for homebuyers. There are also plenty of older, established Colonial-style and ranch homes that typically sell between $100,000 and $400,000. First and second-graders in the area attend Liberty Elementary, which receives a B from Niche, and from third grade to eighth grade they continue on to North Ridgeville Academic Center, which receives a C-plus on Niche. "North Ridgeville City Schools have updated and improved their school buildings," says Balog. "But because of the boom of people moving to North Ridgeville, they'll probably need to expand again." North Ridgeville High School, which receives a C-plus Niche grade, is currently the sole high school in the district. Here, parents can be hands-on alongside staff through an organization called the Ranger Parent Club. Travel is convenient in and out of town, as Interstates 80 and 480, U.S. Route 20, and Ohio State Routes 10, 83, and 113 all connect to the city. "People can get wherever they need to go easily, including Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, which is about 15 minutes away." There are a number of international cuisines to choose from in North Ridgeville, including Mexican, Italian and American. Fiesta Jalapeños serves authentic Mexican dishes and signature margaritas using locally sourced ingredients. Nino's has served large portions of homemade Italian favorites to North Ridgeville for over 30 years. At Gourmé Family Restaurant, locals enjoy diner staples like omelets and pancakes for breakfast, or hearty burgers and sandwiches for lunch or dinner. While there aren't any major shopping malls, there's plenty of retail along Center Ridge Road and Lorain Road. Giant Eagle, Marc's and ALDI are options for a grocery run. But for something really special, locals head into Blue Barn Shops for a whimsical trove of thrifted treasures. And that's not just a cute name: this vintage resale shop really is inside a blue barn, giving a farmhouse feel to the shopping experience. Sandy Ridge Reservation is the city's Metropark, offering 526 acres of wetland and wildlife preserve. It's one of the county's most popular sites for birdwatching with nearly 250 different species spotted since the park opened in 1999. South Central Park offers a playground, walking trails and a splash pad for the summer. Family outings and date nights happen at AMF North Ridgeville Lanes, where there is also an arcade and billiards tables.
